Crane Valley Dam Seismic Retrofit Project

Location: Bass Lake, California
Completion Date: November 2012

The initial phase of the project included overlaying Road 222 to increase the structural section of the roadway. The increased structural section will minimize the damage to the existing roadway from large trucks carrying rocks for construction of the dam. Upon completion of the import operation APC performed a grind/overlay on Road 222. Other areas we paved included, the Dam Crest Rd which runs across the top of the dam, Powerhouse Road at the bottom of the dam which accessed one of PG&E’s powerhouses, Road 229A on the eastside of the dam, Dam Crest Entrance Road and East Dam Road to spillway. In total we placed 3,133 TN of asphalt concrete. APC also performed some concrete work which included a v-ditch with a termination headwall and stair foundations at various locations on the dam.
